Vasa: det enda helt intakta 1600-talsskeppet
Vasamuseet är den enda platsen i världen där du kan se ett nästan helt intakt 1600-talsskepp som någonsin har bärgats. Det 64 kanoner stora krigsfartyget Vasa sjönk på sin jungfruresa 1628 efter att bara ha seglat cirka 1 300 meter. I slutet av 1950-talet återupptäcktes hon och 333 år efter att hon sjönk bärgades Vasa 1961 från hamnens botten.
I nästan trettio år visades skeppet upp på ett tillfälligt museum. Det var inte förrän 1990 som Vasa fick sitt eget permanenta museum, specialdesignat med stiliserade master på taket som representerar det ursprungliga skeppets faktiska höjd. Inuti kan du se skeppet från sex olika nivåer, från kölen till toppen av efterslottet.
Med skeppet i centrum av museet finns det andra utställningar som är uppställda runt skeppet i hela museet. Några av utställningarna fokuserar på själva skeppet, med modeller som visar hur Vasa byggdes, sjönk, lokaliserades och bärgades. Andra utställningar visar dig livet ombord på Vasa, eftersom det skulle ha funnits 145 sjömän och 300 soldater ombord.

Östersjön har fler välbevarade trävrak än någon annanstans i världen. Vrak - Museum of Wrecks tar dig med på en resa för att upptäcka deras historier. Med hjälp av digital teknik kan du stanna på ytan när du upptäcker vraken på havets botten.
Med Virtual Reality (VR)-dyk, hologram och spel får du en djupare förståelse för de marinarkeologiska undersökningar som fortfarande pågår på havets botten. Du kommer att se spåren som upptäcktsresande har lämnat efter sig i Sveriges hav, sjöar och vattendrag. Du kommer aldrig mer att titta på Östersjöns vatten utan att minnas vad som finns under ytan.

Wow! Vilket skepp!
Hade inte varit på Wasamuseet sedan grundskolan men attans vad mäktigt det är. Fick själv då barnen inte visade något större intresse att följa med. Ljudspåret var bra om än inte alltid lätt att hitta var man skulle stå. Lite renovering pågick så det gick inte att vara på alla ställen men ändå så häftigt det är med ett helt skepp så fint bevarat. Tog en god lunch på restaurangen som avslutning. Kom dit när de öppnade kl 10 och sen lunch vid ca 12. Introfilmen rekommenderas att gå först för att få sammanhanget. Missade det men kolla gärna informationen ifall det är någon guidning. Mäktigt.

En av de bästa museerna jag varit på, mycket värd ett besök. Skeppet är otroligt fin och det finns gott om intressant förutom skeppet.

Mäktig upplevelse!
Jag köpte en kombibiljett, det vill säga inträde till både Vasamuseet och Museet Vrak för 310kr. Vasamuseet var RIKTIGT häftigt!! Jag gick i cirka 2,5 timmar och då kollade jag och löste nästan alla skyltar på museet. Museet Vrak var inte alls lika häftigt, jag var där i drygt 1 timme. Mest intressant där var att läsa om ubåtar från andra världskriget som sjunkit och Estonia. Om man inte är super intresserad tycker jag en biljett till Vasamuseet räcker. Det fanns en restaurang unna på Vasamuseet och ett café på Museet Vrak men jag åt inte något där.

Värt ett besök
Intressant, lärorikt och värt ett besök. Passar både barn i skolåldern och vuxna. Vi gick runt med audioguide i egna hörlurar vilket var ett bra komplement till skriftlig information.

Mycket sevärt museum
Ett fantastiskt museum med detaljerade beskrivningar av det som skedde innan, under och efter skeppet Wasas jungfrufärd. Berättelserna innefattar även vilka som var med på båten, hur det såg ut ombord på båten. Man visar även bevarade detaljer som kläder, kärl, vapen etc.

En historisk tidskapsel i storformat!
Skeppet Vasa sjönk efter 20 minuters färd när en vind ställde skeppet i en ofördelaktig lutning och skeppet började ta in vatten genom de öppna kanonportarna. Där låg skeppet på havsbotten flera hundra år tills det hittades igen. Det är Sveriges mest besökta museum där man får en inblick hur livet gestaltade sig under 1600-talet." En historisk tidskapsel i storformat!" Jag blev intresserad av människorna ombord och dess packning inför jungfru resan 10 augusti 1628. Jag hittade en monter där de kallade montern för "Ingen hade lyft på locket till kistan"! Det var jätteintressant att läsa vad som fanns i den. Jag vet att sjömännen hade med sig en kista som de ställde upp på kanondäck där de hade sina sovplatser mellan kanonerna. Det intressanta med kistan vid montern är att i den så låg det en hatt som var av den större modellen. Den var hög och toppig. Under hatten så fanns det fler föremål och bland dessa föremål så var det bland annat intressanta själv hjälp saker såsom en skoläst i trä samt ovanläder till en sko samt en syl och fingerborg! Det tog man med sig på resan för skor kunde man inte vara utan i någon längre tid! Det tar ca 2 till 3 timmar att gå runt och insupa atmosfären i museumet. Bästa tid att besöka museumet är kl 8.30 när museumet har precist öppnat. Senare så kommer både Svenska och utländska turist grupper och det kan bli trångt vid vissa utställningar när gruppens guide informerar om vad de ser och upplever." Sommartiden gällde i Juli 2024" Rekommenderas för den historiske intresserade!

Hur ofta får du se et skepp från 1600 talet
Det är ju häftigt med ett fartyg från 1600-talet. Så jäkla stora det var förr, och veta att det är original. Hade önskat lite variation på guide tur. En lång och ingående och en kort övergripande. När vi var där så fanns enbart en snabb övergripande, men det kanskeär svårt att få till en lång med alla människor och guider som ska samsas på samma ställe. I vilket fall så är det värt ett besök, det är imponerande

Spännande del av svensk historia. Lätt att till sig information, gillade audioguiden. Bra att det fanns karta över audioguiden då jag alltid verkar ha svårt att få ögonen på de där små öronen med nummer.

Trevligt och intressant
Intressant besöksmål. Har nog missat alla historialektionerna under skolåren som handlat om skeppet Vasa 😅 så det var inte mycket jag visste. Men vet betydligt mycket mer nu. Önskar dock att vi hade haft längre tid än 1,5h där. Men det ligger ju på oss själva som kom på så sent på dagen att vi skulle besöka Vasa Museet.

Ett måste!
Man har verkligen lyckats levandegöra historien med och kring skeppet och dess tid. Det finns hur mycket som helst att ta till sig. Bra rekonstruktioner, bildspel, filmer mm. Och träffar man på personal så kan man får mycket mera kunskap till livs. Detta skepp är en oskattbar klenod!

Vasa, ett obligatorium
Ta till rejält med tid för detta besök. Vill man se allt tar det minst 3-4 timmar. Det blir förstås kö i restaurangen så ta med eget vatten så slipper du stå i kö. Skeppet är förstås stjärnan i utställningen men det är fullt med tilläggsutställningar runt omkring. Man får en mycket god bild av hur det måste ha varit att leva på den tiden. Vasamuseet är et måste för alla svenskar, och de turister som tar chansen är bara att gratulera. Ni får en unik upplevelse. Vasa, som alla vrak, ger ett tvärsnitt av hur livet var exakt vid den tid det förolyckades. Ett tips gällande kombibiljetten till vrakmuseet. Vrakmuseet är mycket intressant och bör upplevas. I kombination med Vasamuseet samma dag blev det dock lite mastigt. Ta hellre vrakmuseet en enskild dag. Det behöver kanske inte ta 3-4 timmar men ta till tid även för detta museum. Särskilt om ni har barn med er. Det finns en del "prova på"-saker som kan vara kul att hinna med.

One of a lifetime experience!
Incredible museum! The recovered ship is more than 350 years old and it blows my mind to be able to still see the original one! There's plenty of exhibits and representations of how the ship looked like on the inside. The museum presents everything, from the history of the ship to the preservation efforts in a very simple and 'visitor friendly' way. It is designed in 5 floors allowing you to see every detail of the ship from the lower deck to the masts! Do not miss out the gift shop which has very interesting books and little replicas of the ship availiable to buy! The experience is unique and breathtaking, worth every SEK and minute we spend!

Fantastic working preservation museum
It's amazing to think this ship was built in the early 1600's, sunk and then recovered from the harbour 300+ years later. The story of preservation is fascinating and there are plenty of exhibits to look at as well as the conservators actually working on the ship in the museum. It's well worth buying tickets online and then heading straight for the video presentation which is signposted on the right as you enter through the air lock. Multiple languages on offer at varying times and lasts about 10-15 minutes. There is a cafe which isn't bad as far as museum eateries go and it serves alcohol! Don't forget to climb to the top floor for the best view of the ship. If there are lots of kids playing with the iPads around the ship- don't worry, these only repeat the printed information boards in a more interactive way for the younger audience and don't really contain any additional information.

Absolutely Fantastic
Breathtaking. This was 195 SEK for Adults and well worth the money. When you walk in and see the ship, it’s hard to believe that it spent 333 years at the bottom of the sea. The ship is now almost 400 years old and the craftsmanship is on another level. There is a short 17 minute film that’s in different languages and also a guided tour as well.

Fascinating ship, history, aera, seamen, preservation effort
What a place. I spent 5 hours there and would like to go again, exploring the details I have missed. What a piece of art, what a fate, what a tragedy and how lucky we are to be able to see it. Its destiny was not to go to war, but to tell us about its days.

Easily spent more than 3 hrs here exploring every level and learning about this tragic history of such an incredible war ship built and sank in 1628. Well done to the Swedish people for ensuring this historic masterpiece is preserved for future generations.

A tremendous experience - fascinating story so well told. One lift was out of action and that’s the only negative we can find! The cafe was also excellent and good value. We watched some of the films and spent almost three hours immersed in the experience.

Must see in Stockholm. Zeer indrukwekkend dat zo'n groot oud schip zo mooi bewaard is gebleven. Rondom het schip is vanalles te zien, niet alleen over hoe ze toen leefden, maar ook hoe ze nog steeds eraan werken om het in goede staat te houden.

Absolutely amazing! Do not miss it!
The experience of vieweing an original 17th century ship is in itself quite extraordinary. But the exhibition goes above and beyond that, providing a vast amount of information about the history of the ship and the entire period, about its sinking, its recovery and conservation. All that presented in a very "user friendly" way that keeps you wanting more and wandering what's next! Worth every minute... and every penny!

An Unexpected Highlight – Visiting the Vasa Museum, Stockholm
We didn’t know exactly what to expect from the Vasa Museum, but it completely blew us away. Walking into the main hall and seeing the massive 17th-century ship towering above us was surreal. It’s hard to believe something that old and that detailed has been so perfectly preserved. The museum is really well designed—you can view the ship from several levels, so you get a full sense of its scale and craftsmanship. We found ourselves just standing quietly, taking it all in. There’s also a short film and several exhibits that explain how and why the ship sank on its maiden voyage, and how it was brought up from the sea centuries later. It’s fascinating and surprisingly moving. Even if you’re not a huge history or maritime person (which one of us isn’t), it’s still a unique experience and a cool glimpse into the past. We spent about two hours there and left genuinely impressed. It’s definitely worth a stop if you’re in Stockholm.

The Viking Ship and More
I think just about all visitors make it to this museum sooner or later. The most famous exhibit is of the ancient Viking ship, nicely restored. But there is so much more here, so be prepared to spend some time. Our feet were tired by the end of the afternoon.

A most amazing experience, such an incredible ship!
There are no two ways about it, The Vasa is simply stunning! The moment you entre you are in awe of its presence, the experience gets better and better as there a multiple levels you can access to give you a full view of every layer of the ship and you can admire every detail. The ornate details on the woodwork are mind blowing, as is the texture and grain of the wood itself. You can even descend to the lower level where you can see The Vasa dwarfing over you. As you go around the museum there many other exhibits giving history and details on The Vasa, there is also a replcia of the gun deck so you can get a slight feel of what the ship would be like to be on (obviously you can go on the actual Vasa). But The Vasa obviously takes centre stage is what captures your attention the most. The resturant in the musuem is also worth having lunch in, the meatballs and lingon berries tasted amazing and were quite reasonably priced. The only downside to going to The Vasa Musuem is that it will make any other musuems you visit in the future seem a bit dull in comparrison!

sono un Marinaio di professione e per me è stata una doppia emozione vedere dal vivo un vascello integralmente conservato dal vivo e in tutte le sue parti. il lavoro che è stato fatto per riprodurre tutte le varie attività della vita di bordo sono state accurate e coinvolgenti. ci passi due ore della tua giornata immergendoti in una atmosfera di altri tempi. consigliatissimo da vedere anche con la famiglia per capire cosa non era la vita del Marinaio a quei tempi.

We were told not to miss this museum and we couldn’t agree more. We spent 2 hours and we could have stayed more which is unusual for my wife and I. Highly recommended for all ages.

El mismo día de su botadura, un 10 de agosto de 1628, el galeón Vasa se hundió en las aguas frías del Báltico, por razones que aún se desconocen. 333 años más tarde, en 1961, André Franzen, consiguió reflotarlo y poder sacarlo a la luz en el mismo sitio donde naufragó. Greatest wooden shipwreck in the world.
The Vasa museum is a large angular concrete structure that houses the entire ship with exhibits surrounding it on four levels. Easy to book tickets on our iPhones and enter through 3 sets of doors. Wasn’t too crowded on a Wednesday afternoon. Impressive sight of a vast wooden ship almost totally complete. (Just the mast tops cut off to fit under the roof) The position of the ship within the building with lots of poles, concrete supports and metal supports everywhere made getting a good photo of the whole ship impossible. It was also very gloomy in there so had to wait a few seconds for phone to take photos before moving else they were blurry. Very good exhibitions around the vessel showing history and artefacts; anyone interested in maritime history could walk around for a good 4 hours or more. We spent a couple of hours in there and all in all, extremely fascinating. Highly recommend!!

Highlight of Stockholm
I had Heard about the Vasa, and always wanted to go, so in August of 2024, we finally flew from Portland Oregon to Stockholm. We found our way to the Vasa Museum, with the tickets we purchased before leaving home. My husband and I spent hours looking at the front side, the left side, the rear, the right side, above and underneath, taking pictures right and left, etc. It was amazing, if this ship had not sunk, we wouldn’t have been able to have see a representation of a 17th century war ship. We watched movies and after we had spent so long in the museum, we became hungry, and went to the lower level and had a meal in their very nice cafeteria. We were awe struck by the whole experience. If you get a chance to go to Stockholm, do yourself a favor and buy a ticket to see this magnificent war ship, ( there’s nothing like it, to my knowledge, in the world). Oh….FIND out WHY it SUNK.

Vasa Museum
Impressive museum about the famous royal ship which had a short life. Interesting the guided tour which explained all the history. It opened from 10a.m to 5 p.m and the adult ticket is 195 Kr whole it is free for young people ( less than 18). We reached it by ferry boat from the Slussel ferry Terminal using the same ticket as the subway.

World class exhibition of the Vasa Ship. Just amazing if you like History. You actually get to see the entire Ship. This is one of a kind experience. Also given the background of this ship. This is a Must see while in Sweden.

Amazing Ship
Definitely worth a visit when in Stockholm.The whole story of the ship is told during a 15 minute film in a theatre which includes how It was raisied from the sea.It is given in different languages every 30 odd minutes.There is 7 floors in total to admire the ship in all its glory.There is info charts along the way on each level giving information about a certain part of the ship.Nice cafe to eat but can be busy.Dont miss this self guided tour.

You'll probably never see such an original and intact large ship from this era
An amazing sight, being old enough to remember how little of the Mary Rose came out of the water in the UK, the amount of original ship recovered here is mindblowing. The boat is well presented and accessible in as far as it can be without being able to step directly on board. I found the cafe to be good too

Très joli musée. Le galion Vasa est impressionnant et très bien entretenu. On apprend l’histoire de sa construction et de son naufrage grâce à un film qui passe toutes les demi heures avec une langue différente. Exposition de costumes et d’objets de l’époque et spectacle vivant.

Impressive museum.
Very interesting museum . Knew little about the story before arriving in Stockholm . Very impressive museum and could have spent ages just marvelling at the ship. Great space and informative. Would recommend.
